Occupation Artist
About Me Energy and transmutation are key words in my work. I am interested in the potentiality of
the moment suspended between presence and absence; forming an interim space
between opposing forces. Currently my work explores how two seemingly opposing
elements may exist at the same time and the movement that is happening in the space
between the two. The use of the square as a construct for the natural becomes a metaphor
for the membrane or conduit between forms that would appear as separate yet
are connected. The relationships between different yet similar elements becomes a key
trajectory to explore how certain materials interact, change, shift, or renew themselves.
The aim of my installations is also to create energy systems that posit new dimensions to
otherwise static materials. For instance, in one of my installments a video of a room is
taken from darkness to light with the sound of a tuning fork creating a feedback loop
reaching 528 Hertz- a particular frequency used in Vibration Therapy to re-align human
DNA. While the room is captured as a non-moving image, the sound and fading of light
creates movement that activates the space. And the use of different modalities of healing
practice, such as Vibration Therapy, references our natural movement towards
order within undercurrents of chaos.
From the experience of my work I wish to evoke inquiry and allow audiences to be
confronted by a raw sense of what it means to be alive.
