About Me Artist Statement
I enjoy the melding of modernity, digital technology and techniques from the past. Creatively, I am most satisfied with making artworks with my hands. I do not adhere to one particular medium, but like to explore different approaches in my pieces to create interest and juxtaposition.
An ongoing interest for me is the female subject, whether heroine, artist or tragic figure. I feel a connection with these women and use them to communicate my creativity. Their life stories are often fascinating and inspiring. I also enjoy working with color and light, and using unusual mediums (i.e.; yarn, felt) to translate these pieces.
Art is a continual journey for me and often times I have 2- 3 or more very different ideas floating around in my creative consciousness. Inevitably one piece leads to another and itʼs a never ending river of inspiration. Art somehow heals me and makes me smarter and more introspective and more aware of the beauty that can overcome the negativity in the world.
BIO
Patty lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, with her teenage son. She enjoys the proximity of the ocean (2 blocks away!) in a small coastal town, while maintaining a studio in San Francisco's lively Mission district.
Patty always knew that she was an artist; as a small child her favorite colors were red, blue, yellow and green. It didn't seem possible to only choose one. They were grouped together in her mind. A dream was always to attend art school, but this was delayed by the birth of her son. After her son turned 3, Patty began her college career and eventually received a BFA from San Francisco State. Now that her son is older, she has been able to put more serious time into the development of her creative visions.
