Kevin Pincus

Why are you an artist?

Because artists get the girls

Could you tell us some more about youre art?

I make chaotic paintings that I wish were more chaotic.

Could you talk about your latest work and what you are trying to  achieve?

My latest paintings are along the same lines as last years, redundant  and abstract, however now I am working exclusively with oils and trying to  get more life into the paint itself, as well as, improving myself as a painter.

What artists have influenced you,and how? Bryce Marden for his line work. Dekooning for his draftmanship, David  Smith for his work ethic Robert Irwin for the way he engages space. There  are others like Cecily Brown for her crazy compositions.

What inspires you when things get tough in the studio?

Insurmountable odds. (I am not sure how to spell insurmountable.)

How have you handled the business side of being an artist?

Business side? I did not know there was a business side to all this.

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?

My advice to anyone starting out is Not to be too naive, you dont  really get the girls.

What do you do for fun (besides art)?

Waste time. Come up with million dollar ideas and then watch them fall  by the wayside as the mundane demands of everyday life cause me to forget  them.  There are too many other things to list here.
